Genetic Diversity Analysis for Yield and Quality Traits in Rice Cultivars of Manipur and Assam

The North–Eastern region of India is blessed with wide variability in rice. present investigation was carried out 41 diverse cultivars rice collected from the farmers’ fields Manipur and Assam to estimate nature magnitude genetic divergence among genotypes using Mahalanobis D2 statistics. germplasm consisted popular black some glutinous non-glutinous which are commonly grown both regions. experimental materials were evaluated during Kharif season 2020-2021, following a randomized block design three replications at field BN College Agriculture, Biswanath Chariali, Assam. exhibited significant differences for all 24 characters under study. cluster analysis indicated that grouped 12 different clusters IV largest comprising maximum number genotypes, followed by V eight X five II XII four each, I two III, VI, VII, VIII, IX & XI one genotype each. Among studied, grain length contribution towards kernel after cooking, breadth, 100-grain weight breadth cooking. Clusters showed inter-cluster distance intra-cluster XII, indicating existence amount within cluster. ranged zero (clusters IX, XI) as they consist single each 1146.89 (cluster XII). Hybridization expected produce better heterotic combinations.
